Jim Akers is a Quality Engineer with Woodward Governor Company located in Rockford, IL.  Jim is a Senior ASQ Member, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt (SSBB), and ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE).  Jim received an A.A. from Rock Valley College, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology and a M.S. in Manufacturing Systems from Southern Illinois University.  Jim's thesis topic was "Adapting Cost Modeling to a Factory Model Computer Simulation of a Manufacturing Environment - a Quantifying Technique for Process Changes."  Research interest are in the application of continuous improvement methodologies.
