Class preparation
Prior to
Week 1 (before 4/8) Review basic algebra fundamentals and learn to
use your calculator.
Quiz 1 material
Week 1 (4/8) Problem solving, graphing in
two-dimensions, graphs for linear functions.
Quiz 2 material
Week 2
(4/15)
Graphing quadratic and exponential functions, Non-Euclidean geometry,
fractals, and self-similarity. Quiz 1.
Quiz 3 material
Week 3 (4/22) Graphs, Euler circuits and walks,
Hamiltonian circuits, weighted graphs, efficient routes, planarity and Euler's
formula, and map coloring. Quiz 2.
Quiz 4 material
Week 4 (4/29) Functions used in finance, simple interest,
compound interest, loans, amortized loans, buying a house. Quiz 3.
Final material
Week 5 (5/6) Introduction of counting principle,
permutations and combinations, and probability. Measures of central tendency and
measures of dispersion. Quiz 4.
Week 6 (5/13) Measures of relative position, the
normal distribution, and linear regression. Final test.
